A media tour of the new $31 million ATLAS Center at the University of Colorado at Boulder, which opened for classes Aug. 28, will feature demonstrations of the building's new broadcast production studio, the black-box performance studio, the video wall and other building features.

Located on 18th Street just east and north of the University Memorial Center, the 66,000-square-foot ATLAS Center is home to the ATLAS Institute, a campuswide program devoted to the marriage of technology and all disciplines including music, theater and dance, film studies and journalism.

The schedule for the tour will include:

o Video wall viewing and complimentary coffee at 10 a.m., ATLAS lobby

o Briefing and building overview with a welcome by Chancellor G.P. "Bud" Peterson in the Film Screening Room at 10:15 a.m.

o Tour of the black-box theater and faculty-student demonstration, 10:30-11 a.m.

o Tour and faculty-student demonstration in the production studio, 11-11:30 a.m.

Faculty members and students will be available to discuss how the new facility and technology are being used in coursework.

The tour and demonstrations also will preview a public Open House set for the ATLAS Center all day on Friday, Oct. 13.

Parking near the ATLAS Center is available at the Euclid Avenue Autopark on Euclid Avenue and in lot 208, across from the street from the Euclid Autopark, with media passes.
