Two prominent photojournalists from Chile will be in Boulder in July to exhibit their photographs and speak about the diverse landscape and culture of their country from the coast to the Andes.

Photographs by Hernan Pereira and Pamela Daza will be exhibited in the University of Colorado at Boulder Norlin Library HotSpot on the southwest first floor from July 14 to Aug. 4. A reception for the photographers, including a slide show and talk about Chile, will be held July 14 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the HotSpot. The reception is free and open to the public.

Pereira and Daza are married and live and work in Iquique in northern Chile. Their photographs are intended to preserve the lifestyles of the people, the uniqueness of the landscape and images of life from the cities of Arica and Iquique to the high altiplano and villages of the Aymara. Pereira, an English teacher, and Daza, a medical professional, also are authors of works on art photography and their cultural heritage and are frequent exhibitors in their native country.

In addition, a display of Chilean artifacts will be featured at the Boulder Public Library Meadows Branch, 4800 Baseline Road, from July 12 through the end of the month, along with a "Tour of Chile" slide presentation at 3 p.m. on July 30. Reservations are required for the slide presentation by calling (303) 441-4390.

Pereira and Daza's exhibitions are sponsored by the Universidad Arturo Prat in Iquique, Chile; the University of Colorado at Boulder College of Arts and Sciences, Program for Writing and Rhetoric, Center for Humanities and the Arts, and University Libraries; and the Boulder Public Library Meadows Branch.
