MEDIA ADVISORY

Administrators at the University of Colorado at Boulder have reached an agreement with a student group regarding university support for a proposal on a Designated Suppliers Program and will explain the agreement in a news briefing today at 4:30 p.m. on the south terrace of the University Memorial Center.

Vice Chancellor for Administration Paul Tabolt and Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Ron Stump will represent the CU-Boulder administration at the briefing.

Members of the student group CASA, Coalition Against Sweatshop Abuses, also are expected to announce the end of their hunger strike.

CU administrators and members of CASA have been negotiating on the Designated Suppliers Program proposal, which would specify factories where collegiate apparel could be produced, for the past two weeks.

A decision April 20 by Tabolt that the university adopt a position of "qualified support" for the DSP was rejected by the student group last week. Since then Tabolt, Stump and Interim Chancellor Phil DiStefano have met with the students to reach an agreement that outlines support of the proposal including items needing additional attention.
