Lisa Ling, journalist and contributor to well-known TV shows "The View" and "The Oprah Winfrey Show," will offer a free public talk March 9 at the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Ling's presentation will begin at 7 p.m. in the Glenn Miller Ballroom located in the University Memorial Center on the CU-Boulder campus. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Cameras or recording devices of any kind are not permitted at the event.

Ling will speak about her experiences as a young female journalist working in the media industry and serving as a war correspondent. She has covered conflicts in Iraq, Afghanistan and Colombia.

A native of California, Ling got her start as one of the youngest reporters and anchors on Channel One News when she was 18 years old. Since then, she's become the first female host of the award-winning documentary series "Explorer" on the National Geographic Channel. In 1999, Ling joined the television show "The View." She currently is a frequent contributor to "The Oprah Winfrey Show."
