Local students were among the 2,174 students who received degrees Dec. 16 during spring commencement ceremonies on the University of Colorado at Boulder campus.

Two students were honored for receiving both the Chancellor's Recognition Award for students receiving all A's in their college careers and for being named as their college or school's outstanding graduate. They were Brendan Hickey of Nederland, from the Leeds School of Business, who received a bachelor's degree in finance, and Brian Miller of Grand Junction, who received a bachelor's degree in ecology and evolutionary biology.

The Chancellor's Recognition Award also was given to Brittany Holmes of Littleton, who received a bachelor's degree in biochemistry; Tara Martin of Grand Junction, who received a bachelor's degree in molecular, cellular and developmental biology; and Rose Stuart of Northglenn, who received a bachelor's degree in history.

Other outstanding graduates named by the schools and colleges for the winter 2005 commencement were Laura O'Connor of Boulder, College of Architecture and Planning, bachelor's degree in design; Julie Breeden of Longmont, School of Journalism and Mass Communication, bachelor's degree in news-editorial; Andrew Halladay of Denver, College of Music, bachelor's degree in music; and Pernilla Lindgren of Boulder, bachelor's degree in architectural engineering.
