Grand Marshals from the University of Colorado at Boulder will lead the 2005 edition of Boulder's Lights of December Parade.

Several deans and distinguished faculty from the university will direct the parade from businessman Steven Tebo's antique CU fire truck. The parade begins and ends at 15th and Pearl streets in downtown Boulder this Saturday, Dec. 3, at 6 p.m.

Grand Marshals for the parade include Dennis Ahlberg, dean of the Leeds School of Business, David Getches, dean of the School of Law, Steve Jones, assistant dean of the School of Journalism, Patricia Limerick, director of the Center of the American West and MacArthur Fellow, Norman Pace, professor of MCD Biology and MacArthur Fellow and Jim Williams, dean of Libraries.

"We understand what a valuable asset the university is to Boulder and to downtown," said Renae Foxhoven, Downtown Boulder Inc. Event Manager. "We recognize the academic excellence at CU and the contributions it makes not just to Boulder but to the world."

The annual Lights of December Parade winds around downtown Boulder and involves a wide cross section of the Boulder County community with high school marching bands, Girl Scout troops, church floats, non-profit and civic organizations and business entries. Announcers at the intersections of 11th and Pearl streets and at 14th and Walnut streets will recognize the grand marshals.

A reception will follow the parade at Guaranty Bank, 1375 Walnut St. CU-Boulder's University Choir Carolers will perform at that event.

Downtown Boulder Inc. coordinates the parade each year. Parade sponsors include Guaranty Bank and Trust Co., KBCO, the Daily Camera and the City of Boulder's Parking Services.
