Pat Jensen, associate director of Web Communications at the University of Colorado at Boulder, died Nov. 11 at University Hospital in Denver following a brief illness. She was 55.

A memorial service celebrating her life is scheduled for Nov. 19 at 10 a.m. at Fairmount Mortuary Chapel, 430 S. Quebec St., in Denver.

Jensen was born Aug. 23, 1950 in Denver to Norman and Corabelle, "Corky," Jensen. She attended Lakewood High School, graduating in 1968, and attended Grinnell College in Iowa from 1968-69. She completed her studies at the University of Colorado at Boulder, receiving her bachelor's degree in geography, Phi Beta Kappa, in 1972.

As associate director of Web Communications since 1999, Jensen was Web manager for the CU-Boulder home page. She served as Webmaster for various CU-Boulder Web sites, including the award-winning News Center site, launched in 2003. As manager of the home page she was responsible for the campus search engine and for responding to inquiries to the CU-Boulder home page.

Jensen developed Web content for the recently launched faculty-staff portal. She was a member of the Chancellor's Electronic Communications Committee, writing policies for campus electronic communications, and was a member of the CU-Boulder Emergency Management Operations Group. Jensen also managed computer support for University Communications including Publications and Creative Services, Internal Communications, Community Relations and News Services, in addition to Web Communications.

Prior to her work in Web Communications, Jensen was a project manager and provided Information Technology support for CU-Boulder's Office of Publications and Creative Services. She helped implement desktop-publishing support throughout the campus as the technology developed.

Prior to her University Communications work she held positions with CU-Boulder's Division of Continuing Education, the Office of Conference Services and Westview Press of Boulder as a marketing director.

A Boulder resident for more than 30 years, Jensen was a figure skating enthusiast and frequent theatergoer who also loved the outdoors. She traveled to Norway to meet the Jensen's extended family. She also practiced the ancient healing art of Chi Gong and worked with the Center for the Dao in Boulder.

She is survived by her mother, "Corky" Jensen, of Denver, her sister, Fran Jensen, of Beaverton, Ore., nieces Kim Wong of Denver and Sarah Skidmore of San Diego, and a nephew, Nathan Skidmore of Beaverton, Ore.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Institute, c/o Gail Phillips, 1675 N. Ursula St., P.O. Box 6510, Mailstop F731, Aurora, CO 80045. Checks should be made payable to the CU Foundation, Department of Ophthalmology.

Donations also can be made to the Pat Jensen Memorial Tree Fund for a tree to be planted on the CU-Boulder campus and a plaque honoring Jensen.
