A new anthology about reintroducing wolves in Colorado and the Southwest will be discussed by a panel of three writers including Pam Houston on Monday, Nov. 21, at a University of Colorado at Boulder event.

The speakers will discuss the book "Comeback Wolves: Western Writers Welcome the Wolf Home" at 7 p.m. in Old Main Chapel. A book signing at 6:30 p.m. will precede the talk, which is free and open to the public. CU-Boulder's Center of the American West and the CU-Boulder Creative Writing Program are co-sponsoring the event.

Houston, co-editor Gary Wockner and Laura Pritchett, who has an essay in the book, will make up the panel. The book is a collection of 50 poems and essays by different writers offering their views on wolf reintroduction in Colorado and the Southwest.

Houston is widely recognized for her essays on wilderness and has appeared on "CBS Sunday Morning" and "The Oprah Winfrey Show." She is the author of two collections of short stories, "Cowboys Are My Weakness" and "Waltzing the Cat." Her first novel, "Sighthound," was published in January.

Wockner co-edited "Comeback Wolves" with Gregory McNamee and SueEllen Campbell. His work has appeared in the magazine Orion, The Denver Post, High Country News and other publications. He also is a research associate at Colorado State University's Natural Resource Ecology Lab.

Pritchett is an author and freelance writer whose work mostly focuses on land-use issues and ranch preservation in the West. Her writing has appeared in the magazines The Sun, Orion and 5280, among other places. She is the author of "Hell's Bottom, Colorado," a collection of short stories and a new novel "Sky Bridge."

The Center of the American West was founded in 1986 and focuses on identifying and addressing critical issues in the West.
