The Chancellor's Committee on Women at the University of Colorado at Boulder is holding a series of meetings in February and March to get feedback about the campus environment for women.

The series of "town-hall" style meetings was organized to get feedback from women on campus about issues such as gender equity, harassment and intimidation, opportunities for leadership and advancement, and balancing the demands of work and private lives.

Housing and student affairs staff and supervisors are invited to attend meetings at the University Memorial Center on Wednesday, Feb. 23, March 3 and March 22. Meetings already have been held to receive comment from faculty, academic affairs departments and administrative areas. Meetings with faculty will continue through mid-March.

Organizers said additional meetings to get feedback from students would be scheduled soon, as well as meetings where men will be invited to participate.

The meetings are part of the committee's study of the campus as an environment for women to work and study. Committee member Lynn Staeheli said the meetings already have yielded good ideas and constructive suggestions for improving the climate for women at CU-Boulder.

"Some of these issues affect everyone on campus," Staeheli said. "The university will be a better place for everyone when it is a better place for women," she said.
