Examining the opportunities and challenges created by recent developments in information technology will be the focus of the University of Colorado at Boulder's inaugural Silicon Flatirons CIO Forum on Jan. 24.

The all-day forum will be held in the East Stadium Complex at Folsom Field from 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. A one-hour reception will immediately follow the discussion. Seating is limited. Attendees are encouraged to register in advance.

The forum will bring together leaders from industry, academia and government to address the opportunities and challenges associated with technologies such as Voice over Internet Protocol, wireless technologies and privacy and security management regimes.

The event will feature talks by Leroy Williams, Colorado secretary of technology and Scott Charney, the chief security strategist for Microsoft.

"Colorado companies are facing an increasingly complex and challenging landscape with respect to their information technology needs and opportunities," said Associate Law Professor Phil Weiser, executive director of the Silicon Flatirons Telecommunications Program. "By establishing an annual CIO Forum, Silicon Flatirons is offering information technology professionals an opportunity to learn about the cutting-edge issues in the marketplace from a carefully selected group of experts."
