Investment experts, including the chief investment officer of Janus Capital Group, will converge in Denver on Nov. 4-5 for a CU-Boulder Leeds School of Business investment conference.

The bulk of the conference, which is not open to the public, will be held on Nov. 5 from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Adam's Mark Hotel, 1550 Court Place in Denver. A welcoming dinner will be held Nov. 4 at 7:15 p.m., also at the hotel. The conference is sponsored by the Leeds School's Richard M. Burridge Center for Securities Analysis and Valuation.

"This conference is unique because it combines expertise from the private sector with the academic side," said Michael Stutzer, director of the center.

Gary Black, president and chief investment officer of Janus Capital Group, will kick off the conference with a talk during the opening dinner on Nov. 4.

The conference continues on Nov. 5 at 8 a.m. with two sessions on fund management, including the discussion "Does Fund Size Erode Mutual Fund Performance?" At 9:30 a.m., there will be three sessions on investment strategy, including a talk about the "Performance of Dividend-Paying Stocks in Bull and Bear Markets."

Professor William Ziemba of the University of British Columbia will give the conference's final talk, "Using Horse Races to Beat the S&P 500 Cash and Futures Indices," at 12:45 p.m.

The Richard M. Burridge Center for Securities Analysis and Valuation supports the creation and dissemination of new knowledge about world financial markets, particularly U.S. financial markets.
