Over the next few days the University of Colorado at Boulder will acknowledge the loss of 18-year-old freshman Lynn Gordon Bailey Jr. in several ceremonies and also will begin examining the relationship between the university and the Greek system.

Chancellor Richard L. Byyny met with Bailey's family on campus today to offer his support and sympathy in the death of Gordon Bailey. Bailey was pronounced dead at the scene at the Chi Psi fraternity house, 1080 14th St., on Friday.

A moment of silence will be announced at today's football game at Folsom Stadium after the singing of the "Star Spangled Banner." The moment of silence will be in memory of both Bailey and Colorado State University sophomore Samantha Spady, who was found dead at a fraternity house near the CSU campus two weeks ago.

A candlelight vigil for Bailey is scheduled for Monday at 9 p.m. at the Dalton Trumbo Fountain Court on the north side of the University Memorial Center at 14th and Euclid streets. The vigil is being organized by the Interfraternity Council, the University of Colorado Student Union and the Residence Halls Association. The university's carillon bells will ring at 9 p.m. to mark the beginning of the vigil, which is open to all students, faculty, staff and other friends and acquaintances of Bailey.

CU-Boulder student Nick Baker, president of Interfraternity Council, also has announced that IFC has suspended all social activities at Greek houses for an indefinite period. Baker said the IFC representatives met Friday evening to vote on the suspension.

The IFC also voted to suspend recognition of the Chi Psi fraternity pending the outcome of the investigation of circumstances involved in Bailey's death.

Chancellor Byyny also announced the CU-Boulder administration will begin reviewing the university's relationship with the Greek system in meetings with Greek leaders next week. Information will be made available as the discussions proceed.
