University of Chicago Law School Professor Cass Sunstein will deliver the CU-Boulder School of Law's 47th annual John R. Coen Lecture, Monday, April 19, at 4:30 p.m. in the Lindsley Memorial Courtroom located in the Fleming Law Building.

The lecture, titled "Are Judges Political: Bush, Confirmations and Beyond," is free and open to the public and to university students, staff and alumni. Sunstein also is a faculty member of the University of Chicago political science department and is the author of numerous legal articles and books.

The Coen Lecture Series is sponsored by a gift from Adrian S. Coen in memory of her husband, John, who was a distinguished member of the Colorado bar. Income from the Coen Trust is used to bring distinguished scholars, lawyers and jurists to the CU School of Law for public lectures.

A 1978 graduate of Harvard Law School, Sunstein clerked for Justice Benjamin Kaplan of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court and Justice Thurgood Marshall of the U.S. Supreme Court.

Before joining the University of Chicago, he worked as an attorney-adviser in the Office of the Legal Counsel of the U.S. Department of Justice. He has testified before congressional committees on many subjects and has been involved in constitution-making and law-reform activities in a number of nations, including the Ukraine, Poland, China, South Africa and Russia.

The lecture has been approved for one credit in general continuing legal education. For more information call (303) 492-2049, or visit the law school Web page at .
