The University of Colorado at Boulder's news Web site was awarded a gold medal for "excellence in multimedia" by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, District VI, during its January conference held in Denver.

The Office of News Services and the Office of Web Communications at CU-Boulder launched the revamped CU news Web site in summer 2003 at . CU-Boulder also won two silver medals and a bronze medal at the January conference.

The News Center site features the campus's recent significant news and the latest CU-Boulder headlines. It also includes a searchable list of campus faculty experts, upcoming campus events, an in-depth news section and an online version of the campus fact book. News releases dating to January 1997 can be found by using the news release search engine.

The news in depth section highlights CU-Boulder's national role in space research and examines several special topics including global warming and "Energy and the West."

The Office of Publications and Creative Services won a silver medal for "excellence in graphic design," for the 2003 Colorado Shakespeare Festival color poster.

Publications and Creative Services also won a silver medal for "excellence in communications" for periodicals in a one-to-three color format. The department won for "divide" magazine, published by the Program for Writing and Rhetoric.

The College of Arts and Sciences Web site won a bronze medal for "excellence in multimedia." The newly designed site, , provides a central location for current and prospective students to access academic offerings and resources, and it provides information for faculty, staff and alumni.

The medals were awarded in various categories to member institutions of CASE, District VI, which includes colleges and universities in Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming. CASE is a national organization headquartered in Washington, D.C., that is dedicated to supporting education worldwide.
