The University of Colorado at Boulder's Ninth Annual Campus Diversity Summit, "Revitalizing Community: From Hope to Action," will feature a variety of sessions for students, faculty, staff and community members Feb. 25-27.

The keynote speaker, Elizabeth Martinez, is a Chicana writer, activist and co-founder of the Institute for Multiracial Justice, which helps to build alliances between communities of color. Martinez will speak on Friday, Feb. 27, at 10 a.m. in the Glenn Miller Ballroom at the University Memorial Center.

On Feb. 26, additional guest speakers will include Kathy Martinez, deputy director of the World Institute on Disability, and Norbert Hill, executive director of the American Indian Graduate Center. Martinez's session, "Creating an Inclusive Community," will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in UMC room 235. Hill's session, "Diversity: The Dance Between Hope and Fear" will take place from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Old Main Chapel.

Other events include a performance by Wardenburg's Interactive Theater Project on Feb. 25 and a session on information resources for students, faculty and staff on Feb. 26.

Activities on Feb. 27 include "Ethnomusicology: Academic and Applied in the College of Music" with CU-Boulder professors Kwasi Ampene and Jay Keister, featuring short performances by members of the Japanese, African, and Latin American music ensembles, a workshop on "Moving From Personal Positions to Collaborative Outcomes" by CU-Boulder communication Professor Stan Deetz, a Boulder Faculty Assembly panel discussion on "Building Community Fosters Diversity and Stimulates Academic Excellence" and a discussion on "From Individual Actions to Institutional Change" with faculty from the Leadership Education for Advancement and Promotion, or LEAP, project.

The 2004 Campus Diversity Summit is organized by the Chancellor's Advisory Committee on Minority Affairs and the Office of Diversity and Equity. Funding is provided by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, the CU Black and Hispanic Alumni Associations, OneLuv Productions and the Arts and Sciences Student Government. Sessions have numerous campus sponsors.
