Local students were among the 2,051 students who received degrees Dec. 19 during winter commencement at the University of Colorado at Boulder.

The ceremony was held in the Coors Events/Conference Center on the CU-Boulder campus.

Outstanding graduates named by the schools and colleges for the winter 2003 commencement were Matthew Iyer of Fort Collins, College of Music, earning bachelor's degrees in music arts and electrical and computer engineering; Monica Davis of Boulder, College of Architecture and Planning, with a bachelor's degree in planning; and Jennifer Andersen of Lake Forest, Ill., Leeds School of Business, bachelor's degree in finance.

Also named as outstanding graduates were: Susan Jordan of Golden, College of Engineering and Applied Science, earning a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering; Bryson Fredregill of Sterling, College of Arts and Sciences, earning a bachelor of fine arts degree in film studies and a bachelor's degree in English; and Erin Scherer of Littleton, School of Journalism and Mass Communication, earning bachelor's degrees in broadcast news and Spanish.
