Kids age four to 16 can still get in on the fun of the University of Colorado at Boulder's CU Science Discovery summer program of classes and wilderness camps.

Space is still available in a number of the nearly 200 weeklong classes offered, including "Kids Chemistry," "Lego Structures," "High-Tech Expeditions," "Marble Madness," "Science Magic," "Physics for Fun," "Model Rockets," "Kid Pix," "Electronics for Girls," and many others.

"We offer small class sizes of 13 to 15 students, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and experienced teachers, hands-on activities that are fun and informative, the use of university and community resources, a variety of field experiences and lots of fun," said Ellen Brock, associate director of CU Science Discovery.

There also are three wilderness camps that are still accepting new participants. "These special camps combine the excitement of challenging experiences like white-water rafting, canoeing, rock climbing or backpacking with cultural history and natural sciences like geology, archaeology, astronomy and wildlife biology," said wilderness camp director Deb Kulcsar. "The atmosphere is fun and relaxed with respect for each other and the earth."

Spots are open in the "Peak and Prairie Day Camp" for students completing second and third grades, "Wolf and Wilderness" camp for students completing grades four and five, and "Stones, Bones and the Gates of Lodore" for students completing grades eight to 11.
