Local students were among the 4,943 students who received degrees May 9 during spring commencement ceremonies on the University of Colorado at Boulder campus.

The Chancellor's Recognition Award for students receiving all As in their college careers was given to Roberta Capp of Broomfield, Colo., who received a bachelor's degree in molecular, cellular and developmental biology; Amanda Kinney-Miller of Arvada, Colo., who received a bachelor's degree in finance; Meghan Mayhood of Penn Valley, Calif., who earned a bachelor's degree in communication; and Joseph Payne of Aurora, Colo., who earned a bachelor's degree in finance. He also was named outstanding graduate for the Leeds School of Business.

Outstanding graduates named by the schools and colleges for the spring 2003 commencement were Paul Fread of Spring, Texas, College of Architecture and Planning, bachelor's degree in architecture; Sarah Kinsey of Grand Junction, Colo., College of Music, bachelor's degree in music; Lisa Krempley of Colorado Springs, Colo., School of Journalism and Mass Communication, bachelor's degree in broadcast news.

Also named as outstanding graduates were Joseph Payne of Aurora, Colo., Leeds School of Business, bachelor's degree in finance; Jocelyn Renner of Topeka, Kansas, College of Engineering and Applied Science, bachelor's degrees in applied mathematics and Russian studies; Emilie Rinner of Centennial, Colo., School of Education, bachelor's degree in physics, diploma in education (certificate program); Christina Zigler of Longmont, Colo., College of Arts and Sciences, bachelor's degree in distributed studies.
