Colorado Attorney General Ken Salazar will deliver the keynote address at the CU-Boulder School of Law graduation ceremony on May 9 at 2 p.m. in Macky Auditorium. One hundred-sixty students are set to graduate.

Salazar, who is serving his second consecutive term, was elected in 1998 and is the state's 36th attorney general. He received his undergraduate degree from Colorado College and his law degree from the University of Michigan.

During the course of his career Salazar has worked as a farmer, small business owner and natural resources lawyer specializing in water, environmental and public lands law. He also served as executive director of the Colorado Department of Natural Resources and chief legal counsel to the governor. The state's highest-ranking law enforcement officer is a fifth-generation Coloradoan from the San Luis Valley.

A number of faculty, students and staff will be honored with awards, including Professor Norman Aronson, the Excellence in Teaching Award; Professor Hiroshi Motomura, the Outstanding Career Achievement Award; Registrar Cindy Gibbons, the Barbara B. Leggate Humanitarian Award; and Kelly Dixon, the Meritorious Student Award.

Gary M. Jackson, a partner of the law firm DiManna and Jackson in Denver, will be awarded the Honorary Order of the Coif.

A tent-covered reception on the historic Norlin Quadrangle will be held immediately following the ceremony.
