Applications for new apartments at the University of Colorado at Boulder Williams Village housing community are now being accepted at the American Campus Communities office in room 227 at the University Memorial Center.

The new facility, known as "Bear Creek Apartments at Williams Village," is specifically designed for upper-division students and is scheduled to be open for occupancy by fall semester 2003. It features a mix of private and shared bedroom accommodations with private and semiprivate bathrooms, academic support services and laundry and recreational facilities.

Rental rates for the new apartments will include telephone, Internet and premium cable television services, utilities and furnishings. Bus transportation to and from campus will be provided.

Â鶹ÒùÔº should note that leases for the new apartments contain individual liability policies. If a roommate decides to move out, remaining apartment tenants are not liable for that share of the rent.

Bear Creek Apartments at Williams Village is a unique project for the Boulder campus in that the buildings are constructed and managed by a private developer, American Campus Communities, a national provider of student housing. The company's management team will work in partnership with the CU-Boulder Department of Housing to hire student peer leaders to live in each building and to plan educational, social and recreational events for the residents.

American Campus Communities and Swinerton Builders began construction on the 495-bed facility in June. A second building, consisting of 499 beds, is slated for occupancy in fall 2004, for a total of 994 beds. Housing for an additional 1,000 students could be available in fall 2008, given favorable market conditions. Financing is provided from revenue bonds issued through Bear Creek I, LLC, formed by the University of Colorado Foundation.
