The CU-Boulder Leeds School of Business has appointed Lisa Nelson as director of the school's awards programs.

Her appointment was effective Jan. 23.

As director, Nelson's responsibilities include the creation and facilitation of a national awards program to recognize corporations that engage in socially responsible and environmentally friendly business practices.

"The awards program advances our school's initiative connecting business and society," said Dean Steven Manaster. "Lisa's experience with sustainable business issues, event planning and development will significantly advance this important priority."

Prior to joining CU-Boulder, Nelson was the contract officer for the Governor's Office of Energy Conservation. In that capacity, she administered numerous projects advancing energy conservation in the state, including programs in recycling, renewable energy, transportation efficiency and green building.

A 1992 graduate of the CU law school, Nelson has been at the Leeds school for three years in the development office and the real estate center before taking her current position as an instructor in the Profiles in Business and Society program.

In October 2001, the business school received a $35 million commitment from the Leeds family of New York to endow the Leeds School of Business. The school is committed to pursuing the connection between business and society through academic excellence and innovations such as the awards program.
