Tim Long, a writer and co-executive producer of the long-running animated series "The Simpsons," will give a public talk at the University of Colorado at Boulder on Thursday, Feb. 20.

Long, who will be on campus Feb. 19-20 as a guest of the World Affairs Athenaeum, will speak at 7 p.m. in the Mathematics Building, room 100. The event is free and open to the public.

During his talk he will show clips of "The Simpsons" and share some of his experiences working on the hit show. Long also is known for his work as head writer for "The Late Show with David Letterman," which he did before joining "The Simpsons" in 1998.

Long has been nominated for an Emmy award seven times, winning twice. He also has been up for a Golden Globe award and recently won the "Annie" award for excellence in animation.

The Athenaeum also is sponsoring a student dinner with Long on Wednesday, Feb. 19, at 7 p.m. The dinner is open only to CU-Boulder students, and space is limited so interested students should contact the Athenaeum fellows to make reservations.

The Athenaeum, a student-run program that brings world-renowned guests to campus to interact with CU-Boulder students in their classes and in public forums, is an offshoot of the Conference on World Affairs. CU-Boulder students Ryan Van Duzer and Walter Perschbacher are currently the Athenaeum fellows and are responsible for organizing the events.

Past Athenaeum visitors to CU-Boulder include Gary Hart, Margot Adler, Dr. Patch Adams, Werner Herzog and Susan Faludi.

For more information about the public lecture call (303) 492-7252, or to make reservations for the student dinner e-mail the Athenaeum fellows at cwaathen@colorado.edu.
