The Stampede shuttle bus will provide convenient connections between the University of Colorado at Boulder's main and east campuses and Research Park beginning Aug. 26.

The natural-gas-powered shuttle will operate from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, connecting the campuses with buses arriving every 10 minutes. CU-Boulder students, faculty and staff will be able to board the Stampede without charge by showing their RTD-validated student bus pass or faculty-staff Eco Pass.

"Many people are eagerly waiting for the start of the Stampede service so they'll be able to get across campus or to travel between the campuses without having to drive and hunt for parking," said David Cook, transportation modes coordinator for the Boulder campus. "Also, the Stampede provides a new transit link to campus and to all the bus routes on Broadway for the neighborhoods east of 28th Street along Colorado Avenue. We hope to see the Stampede develop a good strong ridership over the course of fall semester."

There will be a "ride the bus and lunch is on us" pizza promotion for the Stampede from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 30. People who ride the Stampede will be treated to a free slice of pizza and a soft drink in front of the Administrative and Research Center at 3100 Marine St. on the East Campus.

Designed by the community and operated by the Regional Transportation District, the Stampede will be open to the general public at the standard local fare of $1.10 per boarding. The Stampede also will connect with the Skip bus on Broadway, the Jump bus on Arapahoe Avenue, the Bound bus on 30th Street and the Hop bus on Colorado Avenue, 18th Street and Euclid Avenue through the main campus.
