A search committee has been named to identify finalists for the position of dean of the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Stewart Hoover, professor of journalism and mass communication, is currently serving as interim dean of the school. He assumed the post last February, following the departure of former dean Del Brinkman, who resigned citing health and family concerns.Ìý

The committee's goal is to recommend a list of finalists to the Provost early in the spring semester. The new dean would then begin duties on July 1, 2003.

"The School of Journalism and Mass Communication has an excellent reputation around the country and I am confident that I will be able to appoint a new dean who will continue to move the school to the next level of excellence."

The journalism school is one of only two accredited programs in the field in Colorado and is the only one in the state to offer a full, integrated range of undergraduate and graduate studies.
