CU-Boulder School of Law Professor Barbara Bintliff will receive the Clifford Calhoun Public Service Award on April 26 in recognition of her contributions to the law school and the legal community.

The award was established by an anonymous donor in 1998 in honor of CU-Boulder emeritus law Professor Clifford Calhoun, who retired in May of that year. The award is given to those who exemplify the spirit and tradition of Calhoun's altruistic career.

"I am very honored to receive the Law School's Clifford J. Calhoun Public Service Award," Bintliff said. "Cliff was a tremendous role model for us all when it came to the importance of service. He showed us how a faculty member's efforts can benefit the larger community while enriching the teaching and research missions of the university.

"Being considered deserving of this award, and being placed in the company of the previous recipients, is humbling," said Bintliff.

Bintliff's public service record includes work on numerous law association and law library committees, and chairing the building committee for the new law school. She is currently on the Working Group On Public Services for the National Indian Law Library.

Previous recipients of the Clifford Calhoun Public Service Award include Professor Art Travers in the inaugural year, Professor Dale Oesterle in 2000 and Professor Mark Loewenstein in 1999.
