University of Colorado at Boulder students majoring in the arts, humanities, engineering, education or music can gain business skills through a noncredit academic program offered during Maymester, which runs from May 13 to May 31.

CUBIC, the CU Business Intensive Certificate, is a business education program for junior and senior non-business majors.

The program gives students a practical understanding of fundamental business principles and other career development services, career advising from corporate professionals and an opportunity to work with Leeds School of Business faculty and earn a Certificate in Applied Business.

A combination of real-world studies, classroom discussions and presentations give students an edge as they enter the job market.

CUBIC will include six course modules that focus on accounting, economics, finance, information systems, management and marketing. In addition to the modules, students will prepare a business plan.

"CUBIC offers non-business majors the opportunity to receive training that will enable them to be competitive in a corporate setting," said Deanna Knowles, director of the program. "CUBIC opens doors that may otherwise be closed to non-certified candidates."

The CUBIC program is offered by the Center for Business Education, a joint program of the Leeds School of Business and the Division of Continuing Education.

To be eligible students must have completed 60 credit hours or more by May, be in good standing with their respective university and have a 2.0 minimum grade-point average.
