A photography exhibit by Ken Abbott, CU-Boulder's principal photographer, will be on display in Norlin Library's third floor northwest gallery from Feb. 11 to March 15, featuring Abbott's 15 years of work at CU.

An opening reception will be held Friday, Feb. 15, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Norlin Library's fifth floor Center for British Studies.

The exhibit, "Ken Abbott: 15 Years of University Photographs," will feature approximately 40 of Abbott's favorite photographs of the CU-Boulder campus, faculty, staff, students and campus events, culled from the thousands of photographs he's taken over the past 15 years. Abbott will leave CU-Boulder in June when he relocates to North Carolina.

Abbott became a photographer in CU-Boulder's Public Relations Office in 1987, after completing his master's in fine arts at the Yale University School of Art. He was appointed to the position of principal photographer in 1988.

His work has been used in Admissions Office materials, campus catalogs and annual reports, campus newspapers, press releases and media requests. Abbott's work also has been displayed in a variety of national newspapers and magazines.

"The great thing about my job is the fact that I get to meet so many people -- from the university president to the university roofer who gets me up on the roof to photograph the Flatirons," Abbott said. Meeting members of the university and getting a glimpse of what they do has been perhaps the most gratifying part of the job, he said.
