Richard Epstein, the James Parker Hall Distinguished Service Professor at the University of Chicago, will present the John R. Coen/Distinguished White Center Lecture on Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. in the Lindsley Memorial Courtroom of the Fleming Law Building.
The lecture, titled "Using Literature to Understand Social Institutions: A Critique of the Orwellian Vision," is sponsored by the University of Colorado's School of Law.
Epstein is the author of numerous books and articles on a broad range of subjects including common law, constitutional law, economics, history and philosophy. The Coen lecture series brings distinguished lawyers, jurists, and scholars to the university for public lectures at the School of Law. The White Center's "Distinguished Speaker Series" was founded in 1990 to enhance the study and teaching of constitutional law and to stimulate public debate.
The lecture is free and open to the public.
