Investment banking will be the focus of the CU-Boulder Leeds School of Business Investment Banking Forum, sponsored by Lehman Brothers, Inc., on Friday, Nov. 2.

The keynote speaker is Barbara M. Bryne, managing director of Lehman Brothers' Global Technology Group. Byrne will address "The Ins and Outs of Investment Banking" from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the Coors Events/Conference Center, room 4.

Panel discussions, from 10:30 a.m. to noon will feature local investment professionals who will discuss the gamut of departments involved in making an investment bank successful.

"Investment banks do more than investment banking, " said finance Professor Chris Leach. They pursue sales, mergers and acquisitions, equity and other areas. This forum will discuss the relationships between different lines of business."

Putting together an investment forum in the wake of Sept. 11 is no easy task, said Leach, who teaches the Lehman Brothers Seminar in Investment Banking.

"The students are heavily involved in putting the seminar together, and it's the perfect pressure cooker environment for students aspiring to a career in investment banking," Leach said. "With 90-100 hour-work weeks in the first few years on the job, it's not a career for the faint of heart."

Panelists include Carole Buyers, senior vice president, Dain Rauscher Wessels; Ed Aaron, associate analyst, Dain Rauscher Wessels; Jon N. Pardew, associate, The Wallach Co.; and Zane Heninger, associate, Lehman Brothers.
