The Black Alumni Association at the University of Colorado at Boulder will host a reception for Mary Mothershed Pryor, the university's first black homecoming queen, on Oct. 13 at 6 p.m. at the Koenig Alumni Center, 1202 University Ave.

Pryor was crowned in 1963. She will be formally recognized by President Elizabeth Hoffman during a ceremony on the field at the CU-Texas A&M football game earlier that afternoon. The game begins at 1:30 p.m.

Oct. 12-14 is CU-Boulder's Homecoming Weekend, dubbed the "Back to Boulder Weekend" by the Alumni Association.

"We've received a great response from many alums regarding the Back to Boulder Weekend and reunion for Mary Mothershed Pryor," said Bill Harris, program director for the Black Alumni Association.

"At present about 45 people who were here from 1960 to 1967 have agreed to return for this event and we are hopeful that more will attend."

Alumni, current students and friends of the university are invited to the reception. For reservations or more information call Harris at (303) 492-8484 or e-mail bill.harris@cufund.colorado.edu.

The tributes to Pryor are part of the Alumni Association's weekend activities that also include a Friday Festival, school and college tours and a pre-game party two hours prior to the football game.

The CU-Boulder Alumni Association sponsors a wide range of activities and programs to benefit students, former students, graduates and the university. For more information call (303) 492-8484 or visit the Web site at .
