Mark your calendars and pull out your picnic baskets for the University of Colorado at Boulder's second annual "Picnic on the Quad" July 7 beginning at 4 p.m. in the historic Norlin Quadrangle.

Free activities at the picnic will continue into the evening and include live music, hands-on science workshops for kids from CU's Science Discovery program, ice-skating and ice cream, face painting and sidewalk chalk art projects. Education carts from the CU Museum of Natural History will be on-hand featuring archaeology, dinosaurs and biology, and special visits will be made by CU-Boulder's Chip and Will Shakespeare himself.

Guests may either bring their own picnic or order one in advance through the Colorado Shakespeare Festival's box office at (303) 492-0554. Gourmet picnic suppers cost $12 and must be ordered 48 hours in advance. Proceeds from the picnic suppers benefit the Colorado Shakespeare Festival. The Festival's concession stands also will be open that day.

Picnickers can also stay to enjoy opening night of "As You Like It" at 8:30 p.m. in the Mary Rippon Outdoor Theatre. Tickets can be purchased by calling (303) 492-0554.

Free parking is available at lots located directly north of the campus buildings along University Avenue in lots 256 and 260. Free parking for people who have difficulty walking is available in lot 380, west of the Recreation Center.
