Special recognition ceremonies will be hosted by most University of Colorado at Boulder schools and colleges in addition to the main university commencement ceremony on Friday, May 11, at 9:30 a.m. in Folsom Stadium.

Following is a schedule of special events in the schools and colleges to honor the graduates, their families and guests.

* May 10 at 3 p.m. in Macky Auditorium, School of Journalism and Mass Communication recognition ceremony, with reception to follow. Jim Gray, an NBC sports reporter and CU-Boulder alumnus, will be the speaker.

* May 10 at 3 p.m. in Grusin Music Hall, College of Music recognition ceremony, with reception to follow. Christopher R. Brauchli, a member of the college's Music Advisory Board since 1993 and co-founder of the Boulder Bach Festival and the Colorado Music Festival, will be the speaker.

* May 10 at 4:30 p.m. in the Coors Events/Conference Center, College of Business and Administration undergraduate recognition ceremony.

* May 10 at 8 p.m. in Muenzinger E050, College of Architecture and Planning recognition ceremony, with reception to follow in the Environmental Design Building, room 134. Christopher G. Nims, vice president of Gensler, an architecture and design and planning firm in Denver, will be the speaker.

* May 10 at 8 p.m. in the Coors Events/Conference Center, College of Engineering and Applied Science recognition ceremony. CU-Boulder alumnus S. John Archuleta, a retired consulting engineer with JVA Inc., will be the speaker. A reception will be held in the courtyards of the Engineering Center following the university commencement ceremony on May 11.

* May 11 at noon in Koenig Alumni Center, Graduate School reception for doctoral graduates.

* May 11 at 2 p.m. in Macky Auditorium, School of Law recognition ceremony, with reception to follow on the west side of Norlin Quadrangle. Jim Hightower, a distinguished investigative journalist, editor, economist, broadcaster and publisher, will be the speaker.

* May 11 at 5:30 p.m. in Macky Auditorium, Graduate School of Business Administration recognition ceremony. Richard S. Fuld, chairman and chief executive officer of Lehman Brothers Inc. will be the speaker.

Many departments in the College of Arts and Sciences will hold events to recognize their graduates. Many of these events may not be open to the public, and in some cases tickets may be required. Contact individual departments for further information.
