Ronald J. Gilson, professor of law and business at Stanford and Columbia universities, will deliver the 44th annual John R. Coen Lecture on March 19 at 4 p.m. in the Lindsley Memorial Courtroom at the CU-Boulder School of Law.
The lecture, titled "Comparative Venture Capital," is free and open to the public. Gilson is the Charles J. Myers Professor of Law and Business at Stanford University and the Stern Professor of Law and Business at Columbia University.
Professor Gilson's work has focused on corporate acquisitions and governance, and on the economic structure of transactions and contracting. In recent years, his scholarship has emphasized venture capital contracting and the structure of the private equity market. Gilson is well published with more than 40 articles in law and economics journals and he is the co-author of three books: "The Law and Finance of Corporate Acquisitions," "Cases and Materials on Corporations," and "Essentials of Finance and Investment."

The Coen Lecture Series is sponsored by a gift from Adrian S. Coen in memory of her husband, John, who was a distinguished member of the Colorado bar. The income from the Coen Trust is used to bring distinguished scholars, lawyers and jurists to the CU School of Law for public lectures.
