CU-Boulder staff and students will be on hand Wednesday, Nov. 22, at 9:30 a.m. to donate more than a dozen computers to the Family Learning Center at 3164 34th St. in Boulder.

FLC children and adult learners use the on-site computer lab for homework and continuing adult education. Used computers are being donated as part of an ongoing program between the university and the Family Learning Center.

The Family Learning Center is a private, non-profit agency whose mission is to encourage successful life-long learning and economic self-sufficiency for families of diverse cultures and incomes, especially people whose first language is not English.

The used computers were contributed to the campus' "Community Closet" from departments across campus, including the Administrative Streamlining Project. The gently used office supplies and equipment from the "Community Closet," which are not in use on campus, help fill a need for such equipment in area schools.

Sharing the campus' resources to enhance education in the community is one mission of the CU-Boulder Office of Community Affairs. On Tuesday, Nov. 21, the Office of Community Affairs also will donate a number of computers to the "Computers for Community" non-profit organization, whose mission is to provide computer systems through schools to low-income families.

Family Learning Center is located at 3164 34th St., north of Valmont, across from Sutherland Lumber. To reach the center, follow 34th Street past San Juan Del Centro until the road curves east and ends at the Family Learning Center. The center can be reached at (303) 442-8979.
