The University of Colorado at Boulder was chosen as one of the best colleges for Asian Pacific Americans in a recent college survey. The rankings appear in the August/September issue of aMedia's national publication, aMagazine: Inside Asian America.

According to aMedia Editor-in-Chief Dina Gan, who co-authored the survey with Anita Chan, 300 schools nationwide were asked to respond to over two dozen questions on everything from campus diversity to Asian American student organizations. Well over half of the schools responded in two categories -- national universities and liberal arts colleges -- making this year's survey the largest and most comprehensive to date.

CU-Boulder scored a ranking of 21 in the top 25 universities, with a total score of 61.4 out of 100.

Ofelia Miramontes, associate vice chancellor for diversity and equity, said it is gratifying to see that CU-Boulder is a university where Asian American students can find a high-quality education as well as a community that values diverse cultural experiences.

"Our Asian American students represent a broad spectrum of diversity issues and they are an important asset to our campus community. Asian American faculty and staff on campus also provide important leadership for multicultural understanding here at CU-Boulder," she said.

The goal of the magazine's survey is to explore the social, academic, administrative and financial factors that prospective Asian American college

students might find helpful in deciding where to spend their undergraduate years.

The University of Hawaii, Manoa in Honolulu scored the highest in the survey, followed by several University of California campuses. Full results can be viewed on the magazine's Web site at .
