Justin Anthony Colonna, Tuan Linh Vu Nguyen, Eric Mitchell Smith and Jeong Uk Noh will receive posthumous degrees from the University of Colorado at Boulder during commencement ceremonies May 11 and May 12.

Colonna, a fifth-year senior at CU-Boulder, was killed in an avalanche on Dec. 18, 1999, in the Indian Peaks Wilderness Area. He will receive bachelor's degrees in communications and humanities.

Ann Colonna, Justin Colonna's sister, will accept the degree on May 12 at the recognition ceremony for communications majors at 3:30 p.m. in the Mary Rippon Theater.

A tree also will be planted and a bench dedicated in memory of Colonna on May 11 at 3:30 p.m., by the west entrance of the new Humanities Building.

Tuan Linh Vu Nguyen will receive a bachelor's degree in economics. Nguyen was killed in a car accident March 2 in western Colorado while driving to visit relatives. He came to the United States from Vietnam as a teen-ager.

Eric Mitchell Smith will receive a bachelor's degree in history. Smith was killed in a motorcycle accident on Colo. 119 outside Boulder on April 23. A memorial was held by Smith's family and friends on May 5 at the Mary Rippon Theater on the CU-Boulder campus.

Jeong Uk Noh will receive a bachelor's degree in business administration (information systems). Noh, of South Korea, was killed in a car accident Jan. 16 in a Boulder McDonald's parking lot.
