Best-selling author and University of Colorado at Boulder law Professor Marianne Wesson will be the guest speaker at the eighth annual Just Desserts on Friday, May 19, at 7 p.m. in the Fleming Law Building.

The event, which begins with a dessert reception in the law building's foyer, is a "friend raiser" presented by the CU Friends of the Libraries and is free and open to the public.

Wesson will discuss her latest book, "A Suggestion of Death," which includes characters from her first national best seller, "Render Up the Body." The current novel is set in Boulder and features familiar locations like the Trident Cafe, the Pearl Street Mall, Penny Lane, Sugarloaf and Four Mile Canyon.

A former federal prosecutor and trial lawyer, Wesson has served as interim dean of the CU Law School. She has been a three-time recipient of the Teaching Excellence Award and also has received the President's Teaching Scholar award, the university's highest recognition for teaching excellence.

Wesson currently holds the Wolf-Nichol Fellowship at the law school, a position honoring teaching achievement. She specializes in teaching criminal law, evidence, trial practice, and law and literature.

Free parking will be available south of the Fleming Law Building in lot 402, south of Regent Drive on Kittredge Loop Road.
