Career Services and the CU Heritage Center at the University of Colorado at Boulder are partnering with metro-area professionals to sponsor a series of presentations that will help prepare students for the work environment.
The series, "Workplace Readiness Spring 2000," will meet seven times throughout the spring semester. The first session, "Distinguished Alumni Look Back at their Smartest Mistakes," will be held Wednesday, Jan. 26, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Old Main Chapel on the Boulder Campus.
Led by moderator Kent Zimmerman, president of the CU Alumni Association, the session will feature a panel discussion of distinguished CU alumni including:
脽 Kim Christiansen, 9 News anchor/reporter and committed activist in the fight against breast cancer
脽 Jo Ann Joselyn, astrogeophysicist, newly-appointed secretary general of the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics and outstanding community volunteer
脽 Doug Looney, senior sports columnist for the Christian Science Monitor, author and Sports Illustrated writer for more than 20 years
脽 and Glenn Porzak, attorney, conservationist and world-class mountaineer who successfully scaled Mt. Everest.
The presentations are for students who plan to pursue post-graduate employment, internships or volunteer opportunities. All sessions are free and will be held at the Old Main Chapel, except for the Feb. 29 etiquette dinner, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., followed by a reception for participants and panel members from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the CU Heritage Center. No registration is required.
