The third and final installment of a three-part series on youth violence, "Containing Crisis: Managing School and Community Emergencies," will be offered free to the public Nov. 30 by the Center for the Study and Prevention of Violence at the University of Colorado at Boulder.

The live satellite broadcast will be in room 4 of the Coors Events/Conference Center from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m, followed by a local panel discussion from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The panel will be moderated by sociology Professor Delbert Elliott, director of the CU-Boulder center and a national authority on juvenile delinquency.

Other panelists will include Phil DiStefano, vice chancellor for academic affairs, CU-Boulder; Lisa Cech, safe and drug-free school coordinator, Boulder Valley Schools; Janice Hartmangruber, deputy executive director for operations, Colorado Association of School Executives; Jeannette Sutton, Presbyterian minister and faith community representative.

The program will address planning strategies for handling crises in schools and the community, including crisis management, communicating with the media and victim services.

The national videoconference is sponsored by the HOPE Foundation of Bloomington, Ind. Nearly 600 sites nationwide have committed to downlinking the series.
