The Crystal Mountain Center for the Performing Arts and CU-Boulder's Summer Theatre Caravan will hold its third annual creativity camp for children ages 8-18 in Westcliffe the week of June 27-July 2.

The classes will be held at the Jones Theatre, at 2nd and Main streets, under the instruction of two doctoral and four undergraduate CU-Boulder theater students from the CU Summer Theatre Caravan.

The daily sessions, from 9 a.m. to noon, will include acting exercises, stage movement, improvisation and a public performance of short plays written and staged by the children. The CU students also will visit Westcliffe area artistic and cultural venues.

"This is our third summer visiting Westcliffe and each year it becomes more exciting," said Producing Artistic Director Craig Rosen. "What makes our program so successful is the opportunity to learn and teach each other."

The camp costs $30 per student with a $10 discount for the second child from the same family. Registration is limited and must be accompanied by a check to reserve a place in the class. Registration information and checks should be sent to Creativity Camp, P.O. Box 790, Westcliffe, CO 81252.

The camp is one of the events the CU Summer Theatre Caravan is coordinating this summer as part of its state outreach program. The caravan also is conducting a Children's Theatre Residency in Montrose from June 7 to June 18.

In conjunction with the children's program, the Caravan will perform the romantic comedy, "It Had To Be You," in the southern Colorado communities of Westcliffe, Gunnison, Salida, Montrose and Walsenberg. The Westcliffe performance will be on June 25 and June 26 at 7:30 p.m. in the Jones Theatre at 2nd and Main streets.

The play also will be performed in Denver on July 17 and July 18 at the Washington Park United Methodist Church and at the Old Main Theater on the CU-Boulder campus on Aug. 27-28.
