CU-Boulder will hold the annual recognition ceremony and reception for the recipients of the Boulder Faculty Assembly Excellence Awards on Friday, April 24 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the University Club Lounge.

Up to four recipients are nominated and selected by their colleagues each spring in each of three categories: teaching, service, and research, scholarly or creative work. Each award includes $3,000.

Excellence in Service awards will be presented to James Palmer of the Farrand Residential Academic Program and film studies, Phillip Tompkins of communication, Bobby Schnabel of computer science and William Wei of the Sewall Residential Academic Program and history.

Excellence in Research, Scholarly and Creative Work awards will be presented to Charles Howe of economics, Robert Schulzinger of history and Ellen Zweibel of astrophysical and planetary sciences.

Excellence in Teaching awards will be announced Thursday, April 23.

Ceremony speakers will include Chancellor Richard L. Byyny, Interim Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Phillip DiStefano and Boulder Faculty Assembly Chair John Daily. Awards will be presented by chairs of the BFA Excellence Awards committees for service, teaching, and research, scholarly and creative work.
