The forces and technology that make flight possible will be the subject of the next CU Wizards science program for children.

The free show begins at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 28, in Duane Physics room G-030, on the CU-Boulder campus. Duane Physics is located on Colorado Avenue across from Folsom Stadium.

Physics Professor Paul Beale, also associate dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, said the program he’ll present on “The Physics of Flight” will look at everything from paper airplanes to rockets.

“There are some wonderful demonstrations in physics, and I wanted to select a topic that hadn’t been done in the CU Wizards program before,” said Beale, who is participating in the series for the fourth straight year. Beale also has a private pilot’s license, which led him to select this month’s topic.

The program, recommended for children in grades 5 through 9, is the seventh in a series of 10 science shows to be presented during the 1997-98 academic year. The monthly shows are designed to informally introduce students to astronomy, chemistry and physics.

Free parking is available in lot 378 southeast of the stadium, lots 169 and 396 off of Folsom Street and the Regent Drive Autopark (lot 436). Lot 360 adjacent to Duane Physics will be open to visitors for $1 per hour.

Anyone with a disability or special need is asked to notify the physics department at 492-6952 a few days in advance of the show. For general information about the CU Wizards schedule and locations, call 492-4318.
