From Ink to Stickers: Gonkar Gyatso at Denver Art Museum, April 6

Contemporary Tibetan artist Gonkar Gyatso will discuss his work as it has evolved from his formal training in brush painting in China to the influence of pop culture and street art in the West. Identity, politics, humor, and aesthetics have all played a central role in Gyatso's work and he will discuss these themes in relation to his body of "Buddha" work, photography, and—most recently—abstraction. Doors open at 11:30 am.

Free for Asian Art Association members, $5 for docents, teachers, and students, $7 for DAM members, $10 others. Tickets are for lecture only; general admission required for gallery access.
