Hi, my name is Alena Lakha. I am a graduate student in Theatre and Performance Studies MA, at the University of Colorado Boulder. I studied Theatre and Communications with a Biology minor, at Whittier College, for my undergraduate studies. I am an actress, dancer, singer, and yoga instructor. I believe in the healing power of the arts, and I am eager to explore this in my research in my graduate studies, through the exploration of Somatic Therapy, connecting mind and body, to release stored trauma and unsettling life experiences.

I am originally from Los Angeles, CA and I have been involved in Film/TV, Short Film, Improv, and Theatre as an actress. In regards to dance, I practice Ballet, Contemporary, and Hip-Hop. Zumba is another time of dance that I enjoy doing as well. Dance has allowed me to express myself, in how I’m feeling on a certain day, to the expression of the song I’m dancing to. As for singing, I have performed in Musical Theatre, the latest production being New Musical Project 2024 for a play called Lucy Larcom. Music inspires me to express myself through my voice, singing allows me to connect with others and myself on another level, that is so powerful. Within the practice of yoga, I’m able to bring peace and serenity to my students, while also learning and finding it myself. Through the arts, I strive to be an inspiration and light to the world.
