Ethics

Introductory study of major philosophies on the nature of the good for humanity, principles of evaluation, and moral choice as they apply to contemporary moral problems. This course will introduce students to the foundations of some of the leading theories of ethics, along with their many applications.

鶹Ժ will be challenged to engage in class discussions and to critique and defend various kinds of moral reasoning applied to a wide variety of ethical scenarios.

This course, like most philosophy courses, is not intended to provide students with“correct” answers that students are then expected to memorize. Rather, we will examine the strengths and weaknesses of various conclusions in order to provide students with the tools to make their own evaluations.
