Buffs at Collegiate Track Nationals

CU has a Track team for the first time since 2018! Bryce Pfuetze, Tor Holck, Luke Mather, and Carson Wille听raced Collegiate Nationals in T-Town. After practicing on the local Boulder Valley Velodrome, all four riders worked together in the Team Pursuit. Bryce, Luke, and Tor focused on the endurance events for the rest of the week while Carson raced the sprints!

CU Claims 5th Consecutive TTT Title at 2023 Collegiate Road Nationals

CU sent a total of 9 riders to the 2023 Collegiate Road Nationals in Albuquerque, NM. Boulder took a championship title and five medals along with 2nd in the Team Omnium. Good work Buffs!

Sepp Kuss's Deput at the 2020 Tour De France!

ForeverBuff Sepp Kuss has forged a stellar reputation for himself in WorldTour racing! Just a few years into his professional road career, he's already racing in the Tour De France with a powerhouse of a team. The best part about watching Sepp race is that he does in style, with incredible poise, and he looks like he's having just as good of a time as he did racing collegiate. CU Cycling Alum Wiley Kaupus creating COVID content with Rooted MTB

Wiley Kaupus, along with CU Alumni Austin Hackett-Klaube, have a DH mountain bike crew sponsored by Specialized called Rooted. They're making A+ content during COVID, so check out their to get you hyped for the upcoming season!

2019 Nationals Recap - Big Bear

The team basically scored a home run in this year's mountain bike nationals at听Big Bear, California. Over three days of racing, the team took home seven national titles, including the coveted relay title and the team overall national titles. How about that? Here are the nitty-gritty stats:

  • Cross country + short track
    • Harper Powell won both the women's cross country and the women's short track听
    • Molly Madden finished 18th and 9th, respectively, in the cross country and short track
    • Xander and Reade placed 2nd and 5th, respectively, in the men's cross country
    • Lucca Trapani raced his way to 10th, and Spencer White finished 36th in men's cross country
    • In the men's short track, Xander, Reade, Lucca and Spencer finished 1st, 7th, 19th, and 31st, respectively.
  • Downhill + Dual Slalom
    • John Vander Dussen and Clare Hamilton smashed their way to thrilling dual slalom victories
    • Avra Saslow, Dylan Crane and Camille Lamarque crushed the dual slalom and finished 3rd, 4th, and 7th, respectively听
    • Dylan Crane and Clare Hamilton also both took the top of the podium for their downhill races
    • Avra Saslow, John Vander Dussen and Camille Lamarque placed听3rd, 5th, and 11th in downhill as well

Capping off another successful road season, Noah and Maxx powered the breakaway in the criterium with Maxx leading out Noah for the win.

Team History

1987-88

At the first National Collegiate ROAD Championships, held in San Luis Obispo, CA,听the team wins its first national titles with John Stenner winning the Men's Road Race and the team winning both the Men's and Women's Team Time Trial.

The team would go on to win the听National Collegiate Road Championships in 1989, 1990, and 1991.

1991-92

The team wins the听National Collegiate TRACK Championships听Overall Team Title with Tim听Peddie and Sunne Pollart winning the Men's and Women's Omnium, respectively. Sunne also won the Women's Pursuit and Time won the Points Race.

1998-99

The team wins the Division I overall team title at the听National Collegiate ROAD Championships, the first year collegiate cycling is split into divisions. Matt Carlson won the individual omnium, Alex Candelario the Road Race, and the Men won the Team Time Trial.

The team also won the听National Collegiate MTB Championships Team Overall, Women's Omnium (Stacey McIlwaine), Men's XC (Jeremy Horgan-Kobelski), Women's XC (Katherine Zambrana), Men's DS (Brant Hendler), and Women's DS (Jennifer Johnson).

Alex Candelario also won the Men's title at the听National Collegiate CYCLOCROSS Championships.

2014

The team ends an 8-year drought and breaks the stranglehold that Varsity Teams have on national championships by winning the听National Collegiate MTB Championships held in Beech Mountain, NC.
