Biography

Dan Simon is a PhD student in the Department of Sociology and is affiliated with the CU Population Center at the Institute of Behavioral Science. He is interested in the ways in which individuals and populations respond to changes in their social and natural environments, specifically the consequences for health and migration. His previous research has explored the relationship between climate variability and migration in Mexico, as well as recent trends in US mortality. This work has been featured in various journals, including Population and Environment, International Journal of Epidemiology, Biodemography and Social Biology, and Global Environmental Change. His research is funded by the National Science Foundation through a Graduate Research Fellowship award.
