All Botany, all the time!

Berardi at Botany 2015

Andrea shared her work characterizing the range of flavonoids in Iochrominae (from our collaboration with the Winkel lab) at the 2015 meetings in Edmonton, Alberta.  She found intruiguing patterns of correlated evolution in flavonoid type in terms of hydroxylation level across the species, suggesting that the underlying structure of the pathway shapes biochemical variation even at deep evolutionary time scales.  You can read more about her presentation .  Stacey gave the about our lab's collective efforts to understand how (genetically) white flower morphs appear within species and when they are likely to be lead to fixed flower color differences between species. The full talk is availalbe on the BSA website .
