CU Psychology and Neuroscience Associate Professor聽Zoe Donaldson聽(Behavioral Neuroscience; she also has an appointment in聽MCDB) and recent PhD student Anne Pierce (now a postdoc at the University of Washington) were聽in the news, being interviewed for articles in The Guardian 补苍诲听CU Boulder Today聽about a recent publication in the journal Current Biology, a Cell journal. This聽research聽used聽prairie voles,聽which are monogamous, and allowed聽the examination of the neurochemical bases of attachment. They examined the role of the neurotransmitter dopamine in pair attachment. An innovative method allowed the researchers to measure the release of dopamine in the brain in real time as voles attempted to get to their partners when separated.
