Zoe Donaldson and Anne PierceCU Psychology and Neuroscience Associate Professor Zoe Donaldson (Behavioral Neuroscience; she also has an appointment in MCDB) and recent PhD student Anne Pierce (now a postdoc at the University of Washington) were in the news, being interviewed for articles in The Guardian ²¹²Ô»åÌýCU Boulder Today about a recent publication in the journal Current Biology, a Cell journal. This research used prairie voles, which are monogamous, and allowed the examination of the neurochemical bases of attachment. They examined the role of the neurotransmitter dopamine in pair attachment. An innovative method allowed the researchers to measure the release of dopamine in the brain in real time as voles attempted to get to their partners when separated.
