CU Psychology and Neuroscience Assistant Professor McKell Carter was in the news, being interviewed by Colorado Arts and Sciences Magazine about some recent research on potential stereotyping by juries in the justice system. The research, published in the Social Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience, demonstrated that in a lab situation, mock jurists' judgments of guilt or innocence were influenced by their cultural and racial stereotypes and dependent on the severity of the crime the "defendant" was accused of.
